TRELLEBORG ENGINEER JOINS PRESTIGIOUS GASTECH YOUNG ENGINEER FOUNDATION

By Richard Hepworth, President of Trelleborg’s marine systems operation

We call ourselves the Performance People because we ensure the right support is in place for our customers from conceptual design to after sales care. To enable us to deliver truly end-to-end service to our customers, we’re committed to the professional development of our staff.

With that in mind, I am delighted to reveal that Matthew Walker, Project Engineer at our operation in Australia has been handpicked to join the esteemed Gastech Young Engineer Foundation (GYEF).

Given the growing need to attract young talent to the energy industry, the GYEF recognizes and supports the next generation of engineers. The GYEF’s committee, which represents several leading figures in the global energy industry, selected Matthew as one of just 80 successful candidates from several hundred applicants.

Bolstering the professional development of engineers in the early stages of their career, the GYEF has awarded Matthew access to an exclusive package of educational and networking opportunities. This includes a complementary delegate pass for the 2015 Gastech Conference & Exhibition in Singapore (27th – 30th October 2015), providing the opportunity to connect and network with peers and industry leaders. In addition, Matthew has also been awarded a lifetime membership to Gastech’s Young Engineer Alumni and granted unlimited access to online mentoring from thought leaders through a dedicated section of the GYEF website.

For Matthew to be recognized so enthusiastically at such an early stage in his career is a phenomenal feat. We hold a long-standing commitment to the professional development of our staff, and this is testament to our ability to produce industry ready talent.

THANK YOU TO ALL THAT MADE GASTECH 2014 A SUCCESS!

As I spoke about before, we attended Gastech, in Seoul, South Korea at the end of March – and I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those involved in making the event such a success. We had some great results, but the highlight for me was meeting existing customers, as well as prospects, and introducing them to the exciting new products we had on stand.

We took advantage of the event to launch a brand new product, the Quick Release Hook (QRH) Compact Series, and to showcase our Trelleborg SeaTechnik™ USL.

The new QRH Compact Series looked fantastic on stand, and was extremely well received; creating a lot of interest with both our customers and the media that visited us.

But beyond showcasing our product offering, one of our key objectives for Gastech was to demonstrate Trelleborg’s strength within the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector, having reinforced our commitment to the industry early last year with the acquisition of SeaTechnik.

SeaTechnik, now called Trelleborg Marine Systems UK Ltd is a world leader in the design and manufacture of systems for safeguarding the transfer of LNG between LNG carriers and shore terminals. Gastech provided us with a great opportunity to share with key stakeholders the exciting synergies this partnership represents and discuss our evolved offering in more detail.

The event also provided us with a platform to launch our new Performance People branding.  The branding is based on a new creative rationale which puts the Trelleborg Marine Systems brand essence of “Trusted, Committed Experts” at the core of our message to market.

By bringing the people behind our projects and into the foreground, our new creative and branding is intended to give our people ownership and pride in the products and solutions that Trelleborg Marine Systems offers. It allows us to bring our service offering to the foreground, showing the engineering expertise and market knowledge we offer, far beyond the supply of products and solutions.

Given that we had so much to talk about at the event, it goes without saying that there was a lot of preparation involved, so I wanted to say thank you to all that played a role in making Gastech a success. It was great to see the Performance People in action, and I look forward to working together closely to make the next one even more successful!

If we missed you at Gastech, you can find out more about the products we had on stand, and download our whitepaper “Leading edge performance in LNG”, here.

A NEW COMPACT SERIES OF QUICK RELEASE HOOKS

We are pleased to announce that this week, we launched a brand new series of Quick Release Hooks (QRHs), designed specifically for smaller and simpler mooring applications, where traditional large and more complex QRHs are not appropriate.

Due to an increase in vessel size and the ongoing need to optimize safety, there has been an increasing demand for load monitoring and remote release functionality to reduce operators’ exposure to danger through controlled release of the mooring lines.

The need for these capabilities in a more compact footprint has largely driven the development of QRH Compact Series, improving the efficiency and safety of mooring operations at commercial ports and wharfs.  The new hooks can also be used as a replacement for more traditional bollard applications.

Additionally, we are also committed to our business in the LNG sector and believe many of the features of the new series of hooks will meet the needs of the small-scale LNG market as it evolves.

The Compact Series combines the knowledge of our vastly experienced engineering team with FEA software, providing an optimized solution for less complex and lower rating mooring applications.

The new hook also reduces maintenance requirements through a single stage locking mechanism which has fewer moving parts, and is available in a range of designs including single, double, triple, and quad hooks in capacities up to 50T.

If we missed you at Gastech, you can find more information on our new QRH Compact Series at http://www.trelleborg.com/en/Marine-Systems/

SEE YOU AT GASTECH 2014

My colleagues and I will be attending Gastech 2014 in Korea next week. As one of the world’s favorite meeting places for energy professionals working in the oil and gas industry, Gastech provides the ideal platform for us to exhibit our latest product innovations and get some deeper insights into what other delegates see as the most critical issues in the market.

At the show, we’ll be showcasing our brand new Compact Series of Quick Release Hooks (QRHs) which have been designed specifically for smaller and simpler mooring applications, where traditional large and more complex QRHs are not appropriate.

The hooks combine the knowledge of our vastly experienced engineering team with FEA software, and provide an optimized solution for less complex and lower rating mooring applications. They represent a viable alternative to bollards for commercial ports and fuel wharfs, and could also be used in the rapidly developing small-scale LNG sector.

In addition, we’ll also have our Seatechnik™ Universal Safety Link (USL) on stand, a truly innovative product optimized for the small scale LNG sector. The USL was developed in response to the market requirement for a Ship-Shore Link (SSL) which addressed the needs of the LNG marine fuel and small scale transfer market.

We have also developed a new LNG application briefing, ‘Leading-edge Performance in LNG”, which we’ll have available for delegates to take away from our stand. It discusses the evolution of docking and mooring solutions, fender systems and transfer technology across a range of LNG applications.

If you’re heading to Gastech 2014, which will take place at the Kintex, Korea from the 24th to the 27th March, make sure you come and see us on stand F160.
